Golf, at least, had a good weekend -- played golf on both Saturday and Sunday -- even got several pars and a birdie on the first hole on Saturday!

And it was a beautiful fall weekend here in the Atlanta area. In spite of the drought, the leaves are turning, and, as usual, golf comes home from the golf course having collected the strangest things . . . . This time she came home with all different colors and species of autumn leaves. So, since Hawaii doesn't HAVE an autumn and I was missing autumn weather from when I was in the States and particularly at the Naval Academy, I stooped to playing in the beautiful leaves.

Halloween Pictures

Okay, I have good news and bad news. The good news is that all my female guests showed up in proper Scarlett costumes for my Halloween "Gone with the Wind" party. The bad news is that golf didn't get my Rhett Butler costume made in time, so I had to just dress up as a Confederate officer and this factory-made suit doesn't fit worth a snap (no pun intended)!! I shoulda dressed up as Quigley. But the Southern officer costume fit the theme better. I'll show you the Rhett Butler outfit when I ever get it. I think I look more like a Rhett than an Ashley!! So, in the meantime, you can at least admire all the Scarletts!

Sunday, October 21, 2007 -- Opening Theme No. 1

Golf's first attempt at duplicating the clips from the Magnum, P.I., introduction and inserting me and my version of the cast in the clips. Please forgive her lack of video- and audio-editing skills, and she was not able to duplicate every video clip and also used some clips that are no longer in the final intro version, so you see where there are discrepancies. She may keep working on it, but for right now, she darned tired of hearing this music over and over while editing!!

Thursday, October 18, 2007 - New Toy!

Look! I got a new toy! golf found a mini-size Little Bird on eBay (I think it came in the Japanese equivalent of a Cracker-Jacks box . . . . ) -- and she painted it to be like TC's Island Hoppers helicopter. Now if she could only figure out how to put a mini-engine in it and make it mini-radio control. Yeah, right.

In the meantime, just to let you know, we have also received the Ultimate Soldier AH-6 Little Bird that TC and I can actually sit in. Now golf just has to get it painted in the Island Hoppers colors, and pictures will be forthcoming -- but not for a while. She needs to receive the paint she just ordered yesterday -- and she wants to do it right, so she will try to be patient and make the paint job worthy of the object.

If any more props arrive in the meantime, she'll take some pictures and add them here, of course.

Larry Manetti was kind enough to respond to a fan email golf sent to him, so in honor of his courtesy, I am revisiting the cover of his book with Rick GI. Manetti's book is now quite a collector's item and rather valuable. golf has it and read it on her way to Maui a couple of years ago. If you're a Magnum, p.i., fan, she recommends it.

Friday, October 5, 2007 -- It's about time!

I now have the "official" parrot-and-palm-fronds Hawaiian shirt. A pat on the back for golf for her creativity in making this one for me (click on the picture for an enlarged view so you can see the detail of the print). And we should soon have TC in his Island Hoppers chopper, as soon as we get the MD500D and paint it . . . .
After the above pictures were posted, golf got a request to add my "jewelry" and Naval Surface Warfare belt buckle. She doesn't have the belt yet, but here's her attempt at the Cross of Lorraine "team" ring, my Rolex GTS, and the belt buckle, sans belt. Whaddayathink?

Tuesday, October 2

Off to the golf course again today!
Left: Sigh! First shot in the water.
Right: Might as well get a little sun.

Below: To quote Fagin, I'm "reviewing . . . the situation . . ."

Right: I'll tend it for you.
Okay, below, I'm standing in the cup, but unfortunately I look more like Tim Conway as Dorf , as I instruct: "Aim it right HERE."

AGAIN, I'm right HERE, aim HERE.

That's it. Well done.
